Received: 10/12/2018

Respondent: Taverham Road Action Group

Representation Summary:

We, Taverham Road Action Group, comprise around 40 local people strongly opposed to an unspecified number of houses being built here. Previous plans indicated a smaller site comprising three properties within the current settlement line, in keeping with adjacent homes, but this involves moving the settlement line to incorporate agricultural land, and sets a precedent for further development along Macks Lane, a popular community amenity. Loss of ancient trees and proximity to the Wensum would harm biodiversity and wildlife, and access close to Shakespeare Way onto a road with extremely poor sight-lines poses a serious danger to road-users and pedestrians.

Respondent: Taverham Road Action Group

Representation Summary:

Taverham Road Action Group comprises 40+ local people who are strongly opposed to the development of this site, as it involves moving the current settlement line and would set a precedent for further loss of the agricultural land that currently contributes to the community's pleasant, semi-rural environment. The resulting increase in traffic on this already busy and narrow road, which has very poor sight-lines and only one pavement for much of its length, would cause serious safety issues for both pedestrians and drivers, and the site's proximity to the Wensum would exacerbate current flooding problems and cause harm to wildlife.
